Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro Could Change the Game for Video Pros
Analyst Ming Chi Kuo says Apple’s long rumored OLED MacBook Pro will likely include a touch display using on cell touch technology. That means the touch sensors are built directly into the display itself, creating a thinner and more responsive screen.
Kuo believes Apple is taking this step after years of watching how iPad users rely on touch to speed up creative workflows. For video professionals, that could mean new ways to interact with editing software, manage timelines, or navigate effects without relying only on the trackpad.
The lower-cost MacBook expected in late 2025 will not have touch, but a second-generation version projected for 2027 might. Samsung is expected to supply the OLED panels, while the chip roadmap is still uncertain. We could see M5-powered MacBook Pros in early 2026 and then OLED-equipped M6 models later the same year.
For video professionals, this could bring together the best of two worlds. The power and reliability of MacBook Pro, with the touch-driven flexibility of iPad. Combine that with a thinner design, a smaller notch, and the depth of OLED color and contrast, and you have a tool that could reshape mobile editing and production workflows.
Do you see touch as a real benefit for video editing and production, or just an extra feature?
