This is something seldom seen: a teleprompter caught fire during KLAS‘s 5 p.m. newscast on Thursday (video below).
Teleprompter Catches Fire
Smoke could be seen rising into the frame of a studio camera as reporter George Knapp attempted to close out his story at the beginning of the CBS affiliate’s newscast. Apparently, the teleprompter caught fire. No details were given. Anchor Paula Francis later explained that a small fire had broken out, before she launched into a story about two local wildfires. The irony was not lost on anyone. All remained calm and continued as professionals must.
Inexplicable… no one knows how the fire started. Another teleprompter soon arrived, and the show went on!
