Hmm, Marvel has been awfully quiet this year…
Tom Holland Confirms Spider-Man 3 Movie is Filming and it Might Be Everything We’ve Been Waiting For.
Spidey (Tom Holland) happens to be a very web-savvy social media spider, this weekend he posted a video of himself arriving on set nonchalantly disclosing the production of the upcoming much awaited new Marvel super hero movie Spider-Man 3! Yeah, Baby! There is good movie news this year after all! Marvel fans are beyond happy! Marvel’s marketing team has definitely learned to use Holland’s social media well. We cringe after that infamous Avenger’s poster reveal of yester years. They know Holland’s account can cause quite a stir.
We’ve long been waiting for confirmation that Marvel would put something out for us to get excited about. Tom Holland’s Instagram story this past Sunday got us going. The Spider-Man 3 movie will come as the sequel to 2017’s “Homecoming” and 2019 “Far From Home” which we wrote about here. This Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has no official title yet, but it is due out December 17th, 2021. This may seem like a long time, but wasn’t December 2019 like last month? The years keep coming and they don’t stop. It’s hard to keep track these days.
Here’s what we know. Jon Watts, who directed Homecoming and Far From Home, is returning to lead this movie, along with Zendaya as MJ, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jacob Batalon as Ned and Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson. Rumors on casting suggest that Spider-Man 3 will give us a live-action Spider-Verse, with Jamie Foxx as Electro, the villain of 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which wasn’t part of the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. I’ve heard that the possibility exists that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, might be Spidey’s new mentor in the movie, and will have the answers about Electro’s arrival.
Now, I’m not an official reporter but I do follow social media gossip and if the rumors are true we might also be seeing Tobey Maguire’s Spider Man role reprised for the live action Spider-Verse. which, let’s face it, would hit that nostalgic spot and tie all the Spider-Man movies together. Also, I miss Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. I like this new Spidey and have gotten used to him, but in my heart Tobey Maguire is always and forever Spider-Man.
That’s all we know for now, but I’m excited for what Spider-Man 3 will become and will stay tuned until December 2021.
